Madhusmita hits unbeaten 114 for East Zone women

Odisha allrounder Madhusmita Behera hit an unbeaten 114 to help East Zone draw their three-day match against North Zone in the Senior Women Inter-Zone Tournament at Greenfield Stadium in Trivandrum, Kerala today. However, North Zone gained three points by virtue of taking first-innings lead, while East settled with one point.

Madhusmita scored the unbeaten century in the second innings. She faced 312 balls and hit 16 boundaries. Madhusmita and Tanusree Sarkar rescued East Zone from the jaws of defeat, stitching together 179 runs in their sixth-wicket stand. Madhusmita also picked up two wickets in the opposition first innings, conceding 49 runs.

Three players from Odisha represented East Zone in this match with the other two being Madhuri Meheta and Sushree Dibyadarshini. Opening batsman Madhuri scored 15 and 6 in the two innings. Sushree contributed an unbeaten 27 in the second innings and picked up two wickets for 36 runs.
